At 6:30pm on Friday evening, Josh and I began our trip to Fallbrook, CA to see our new son. The drive down was uneventful, with Josh taking the first half and me taking the second. Okay, lemme just say that driving a rented Ford Focus is MUCH different than driving, or riding in, a Nissan Titan. Much different... We got into Fallbrook around 3:00 in the morning but spent the next hour navigating windy, hilly roads, trying to find our breeder's house. Well, turns out that our GPS system had us going in the complete wrong direction!!! We headed back a different direction and we were able to find his house. Okay, it's now 4:00 in the morning and we're pretty sure that the guy wouldn't appreciate us knocking on his door at that time. And we were actually afraid to, given the kind of dogs that he has... So off to a church parking lot we went to catch some sleep.
We woke up about two hours later, went to Denny's for breakfast, and hung out again until we could head to the breeder's house. The pups were getting their tails docked that morning so we had to wait for him to come home from the vet.
Once we get to his house, we were given the grand tour of his kennel. Josh and I have never been more impressed with the type of dog that we saw. They were gorgeous!! We were able to meet and play with all of the females, leaving the daddy of our dog the only one we weren't able to see. I guess he takes a bit to calm down and we just didn't have the time. Two things we found out about the dogs: they're BIG (the daddy dog on his hind legs is taller than me!!) and they're POWERFUL!! But still play all crazy-like like our two do. We got a little glimpse of what it's going to be like in our house when we have the three, playing and running with each other, knocking everything and everyone out of their way. YIKES! But we're so looking forward to it though and so excited to bring another baby boy into our family.
Since the puppies were only three days old, they're still little grunting balls of fur and their eyes weren't even open yet. We were able to hold both of the males though and we both melted. We won't know for sure which one we will get, as it's still way to early to determine temperament, etc in the dogs.
I didn't bring my camera in with me because the pictures wouldn't have really turned out and I didn't want to inconvenience the breeder any more than we already had.
So, just as a reminder, this is the momma dog:

And this is the daddy dog:

Here are pics of the two pups:

And Number 2

The breeder is going to have his ears cropped by his vet so the pup will have to stay a little longer than normal. The scheduled date of pickup, for now, is August 7th so we are counting down the days!!
